In the summer of 2021, three of us from the department of glass have been given the opportunity to represent our school, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in the Annín International Glass Symposium, in the heart of Czech Republic. It has been a great platform to connect with fellow glass students from the Visegrad countries and experience their ways of thinking in glass. We have been given the 'stage' to communicate our ideas to the public as well as working together with traditionally trained czech glassblowers to realize our projects.
Scarabeus is a project which explores shapes and contours, the inner and outer space of the glass - its playing with transparency, colour overlays and cut-out segments. It also uses iris colours, which create a remarkable shiny effect when using reductive heat.
